Reference for Avaya Communications DEFINITY G3
Figure 1 shows the hardware configuration for the ISDN link or the
Ethernet link between the DEFINITY G3 and SwitchServer/2.
Figure 1. Alternative configurations for the SwitchServer/2 connection to the DEFINITY G3

To use the DEFINITY G3 with SwitchServer/2, the following minimum hardware
and software are required:
- Minimum hardware requirements
- A DEFINITY G3 is required.
Additional hardware may be necessary in order to use all of the CallPath
features.
Contact your Avaya installation representative for installation,
configuration, and required upgrades for your DEFINITY G3 hardware.
- Minimum software requirements
- DEFINITY G3 Adjunct/Switch Applications Interface (ASAI) CallVisor system
software is required.
Additional sotware options may be necessary to use all of the CallPath
features. CallPath implements all of the ASAI functionality which may
not be available with your particular switch.
Contact your Avaya installation representative for installation,
configuration, and required upgrades for your DEFINITY G3 software.
When configuring the ASAI port, ensure the installation agent uses the
following Feature Code options:
- Event minimization?
- Y
- XID?
-
N
- MIM support?
- N
- Fixed TEI?
- N for ISDN
-
- Y for Ethernet (TEI Length=1 or 3)
- Note:
- If using more than one CallPath Servers to connect to this switch, ensure
that all TEI lengths are the same; either all 1 or all 3. Mixing
these values will lead to incomplete event flows.
- CRV length:
- 2
To use SwitchServer/2 with the DEFINITY G3, the following hardware and
software are required:
- Hardware requirements
- An IBM Personal Computer (IBM PC) or compatible, with a Pentium(R) or
higher processor running at 300 Megahertz (MHz) or faster, with the following
minimum configuration:
- 64 megabytes (MB) of random access memory (RAM)
- 1 GB fixed disk
- Adequate number of expansion slots to support the following:
- Communication card to the DEFINITY G3
- Communication card to the CallPath Server host (if needed)
- Memory expansion board or boards (if needed)
- PC monochrome or color display
- Pointing device supported by the operating system version you are running
- Any one of the following to connect the PC to the DEFINITY G3:
- An Excelltech, Inc., Data Terminal Adapter (XLT DTA) card with an
appropriate connection cable for PCs with ISA architecture
- An Excelltech, Inc., Data Terminal Adapter/Microchannel card (XLT
DTA/MC) with an appropriate connection cable for PCs with microchannel
architecture
- Note:
- This card was formerly called the NCR ISDN BRI DTA/MC card.
- Any 10BASE-T Ethernet card with an RJ45 connector and an appropriate
connection cable
- Use a separate Ethernet card for connectivity to the DEFINITY G3 to
prevent performance problems and toll fraud. A single Ethernet card
cannot be used for both host and DEFINITY G3 connectivity.
- A 10BASE-T hub with RJ45 connectors is also required for connectivity to
the DEFINITY G3.
- SwitchServer/2-to-host connectivity hardware; see Using CallPath
SwitchServer/2
- Note:
- Refer to the documentation included with your machine for additional
information about hardware options.
- Software requirements
- Each SwitchServer/2 requires the following software:
- OS/2 WARP Version 4, or higher, and the latest Corrective Service Levels
- IBM SecureWay(R) Communications Server, and the latest Corrective
Service Levels
- SwitchServer/2-to-host connectivity software; see Using CallPath
SwitchServer/2
- IBM TCP/IP for OS/2 WARP(R) Version 4 and the latest Corrective
Service Levels, if you are using the Ethernet connection to the DEFINITY G3
