Reference for Avaya Communications DEFINITY G3
Previous IBM CallPath versions of this product required users to manually
launch AIX installs using the installp command; however, in CallPath
Version 6 Release 3.1, AIX installs are launched by running an
interactive shell script that is located in the root directory of the
CD.
- Note:
- Only a person with root or administrator authority can install these
products.
CallPath Server is located on the CallPath Server CD and the
CallPath Enterprise CD. To install or update CallPath Server
for AIX, do the following:
- Ensure that any previous IBM CallPath versions of this product are not
running. If you attempt to install CallPath Server for AIX while a copy
of IBM CallPath Server is already running, the installation will be
abended. You will be prompted with recovery instructions.
- Insert the CallPath Server CD or the CallPath
Enterprise CD into your CD-ROM drive.
- Before the CD-ROM can be accessed on AIX systems, a mount point must be
established on the machine where the CD-ROM drive resides. This mount
point can be created by issuing the AIX mount command or by using the SMIT
utility as follows:
- From the command prompt, change to the root directory of the CD (mount
point).
- Type setupaix.bat and press Enter.
- Follow the prompts to start the installation.
- After the product files are copied to your system, the installation
program will ask you if you would like to run a script called
cpspost. If you choose to run cpspost, it will
perform the following tasks:
- Adjust AIX Processes Per User if necessary.
- Create CallPath administrative user cpadmin (if it does not
already exist).
- Assign cpadmin ownership of all product files in directory
/usr/lpp/csasrvr.
- Create application softlink CPServer in /home/cpadmin, the home
directory for cpadmin. CPServer starts the
CallPath Server Management Facility.
- Add the environment variable CSA_DIR for
cpadmin's profile and root's profile.
Notes:
- Running cpspost is optional. If you are an existing
CallPath customer, and you already have an environment for CallPath, you can
choose to use it instead. However, if you are a new CallPath customer,
you should run cpspost because it greatly simplifies initial
setup.
- After cpspost is run, you must perform the following tasks
before attempting to use cpadmin:
- If cpadmin did not exist before cpspost was run, set
the initial password for cpadmin by issuing the following
command:
passwd cpadmin
- Log out from your current session.
- Log in with user cpadmin.
If you are using XWindows, you should perform the following additional
taks:
- In the file /home/cpadmin/.dtprofile, remove the pound symbol (#)
from the line DTSOURCEPROFILE=true. Making this change will
enable cpadmin to use its base profile information in the XWindows
environment. If you need to run CallPath Server from root,
you should also make the same change to the file /.dtprofile.
- Log out from your current session.
- Log in with user cpadmin.
- If you choose to run cpspost after the CallPath Server install,
it will be run automatically after you install additional CallPath Server
components or service updates. If you want to prevent
cpspost from running automatically, delete the file
/usr/lpp/csasrvr/bin/cpspost.used.
- If you use SMIT to install CallPath Server, you will not be given the
option to run cpspost. You must launch cpspost
manually. (See the next note for instructions.)
- If cpspost is not run immediately after an installation, you
can launch it at a later time by running the following command:
/usr/lpp/csasrvr/bin/cpspost
- You must have root authority to run cpspost.
- If you did not run cpspost, you must manually change the owner
and/or group of the product files (to allow CallPath Server to be run by an
AIX user other than root). To change the owner of the product files,
issue the command chown -R user:group /usr/lpp/csasrvr, where
user is the AIX user that will administer CallPath Server, and
group is the primary group of the AIX user. To allow all of
the users in an AIX group to administer CallPath Server, issue the command
chgrp -R group /usr/lpp/csasrvr, where group is the AIX
group. For more information, see the AIX documentation.
If you use cpspost and you are logged in as cpadmin
or root, you do not need to set any user environment variables
before launching the CallPath Server Administration Facility. However,
in all other cases, you must set the environment variable
CSA_DIR. by adding the following line to the user's
.profile file:
export CSA_DIR=/usr/lpp/csasrvr
See the AIX product documentation for additional information.
If you are installing CallPath Server Version 6.3.1 over IBM
CallPath Server Version 1.X, but you want to retain the current switch
level, you must first uninstall the previous IBM CallPath Developer's
Toolkit. This is necessary to accommodate a new directory
structure.
- Note:
- Uninstalling CallPath Server for AIX removes the entire CallPath directory
structure.
Switch connections are located on the CallPath Switch Dependent
Connections CD. To install a switch connection, do the
following:
- Insert the CallPath Switch Dependent Connections CD into your
CD-ROM drive.
- If you have not already done so, mount your CD-ROM drive using the
instructions in Installing CallPath Server.
- From the command prompt, change to the root directory of the CD.
- Type setupaix.bat and press Enter.
- Follow the prompts to start the installation.
The CallPath Server Toolkit is located on the CallPath Server CD
and the CallPath Enterprise CD. To install the CallPath
Server Toolkit, do the following:
- Insert the CallPath Server CD or the CallPath
Enterprise CD into your CD-ROM drive.
- If you have not already done so, mount your CD-ROM drive using the
instructions listed above.
- From the command prompt, change to the root directory of the CD.
- Type setupaix.bat and press Enter.
- Follow the prompts to start the installation.
