About this book

This book describes IBM® CallPath® CallCoordinator®/CICS for OS/390® Version 2.1, an upgrade to IBM CallPath CallCoordinator CICS/MVS® Release 1.

Throughout this book we use the following short names:

This book introduces CallCoordinator, explains what CallCoordinator does and details the new features available in Version 2.1. It is written for executives, data processing managers, call center managers, call center system administrators, and application programmers who want to understand and evaluate CallCoordinator.

Following is a list of terms or concepts used throughout this book when discussing CallCoordinator.
Term or concept
How It is Used in This Guide
agent
A person who handles incoming or outgoing telephone calls and uses a computer application, such as a customer service or support representative, or an information clerk.
application
Your CICS business application program.
call center
A business center where customer access is by telephone. Persons using CallCoordinator in a call center might be an agent, service representative, or a customer support representative.
host computer
The IBM System/390® (S/390®) computer on which CallCoordinator runs.
panel
The transaction environment displayed on a terminal screen.
switch
A telephone system such as a private branch exchange (PBX).
transaction
An action that occurs as part of your CICS application program.
