Chapter 11. Preparing For Installation

This chapter provides the following information:

The Installation Task Sequence

Here is the task sequence for installing the CallCoordinator software:

  1. Load the software, following procedures in Chapter 12, "Loading the CallCoordinator software".
  2. Read about the software elements to be defined to CICS in Chapter 13, "About CallCoordinator Software".
  3. Complete the required tasks in Chapter 14, "Defining CallCoordinator to CICS for SRO".
  4. Validate software load and definition to CICS by performing the single-region validation tasks in Chapter 17, "Validating Software Load and Definition to CICS".
  5. Depending on your CICS environment, do one of the following:

Hardware and software requirements

The CallCoordinator program runs on an OS/390 host operating system. Customer Information Control System (CICS) provides the operating facilities for the CallCoordinator program.

For full details see "Hardware Requirements" and "Software Requirements".

Note: For sysplex environments, the following features of CICS TS 1.3 are used:

Also, using VSAM RLS, files are shared among multiple CORs.

All these features require a Coupling Facility.

Prerequisite Tasks

Before you begin installation, complete the following prerequisite tasks:

What You Need for the CICS Test Environment

This book recommends that you define an environment on CICS for testing CallCoordinator installation in two phases:

Phase 1, Single Region

Define the CallCoordinator programs and some terminals to a single CICS region. Follow the guidelines in Chapter 14, "Defining CallCoordinator to CICS for SRO".

Test the single-region environment, following instructions in Chapter 17, "Validating Software Load and Definition to CICS".

If you plan to operate CallCoordinator in a multiregion operating (MRO) environment, continue with Phase 2.

Phase 2, Multiregion

After defining and validating single region operation, define the CallCoordinator multiregion test environment. Follow the guidelines in Chapter 15, "Defining CallCoordinator Software to CICS for MRO".

Test the multiregion environment, following instructions in Chapter 17, "Validating Software Load and Definition to CICS".

If you plan to operate CallCoordinator in a sysplex operating environment, continue with Phase 3.

Phase 3, Sysplex

After defining and validating single-region operation, define the CallCoordinator sysplex test environment. Follow the guidelines in Chapter 16, "Defining to CICS for Sysplex Operation".

Test the sysplex environment, following instructions in Chapter 17, "Validating Software Load and Definition to CICS".

Reference Material

You might want to have the appropriate reference material listed in Table 19 on hand during software installation.

The list is representative for customers using CICS/MVS V4.1 or CICS Transaction Server for OS/390. Customers using CICS Transaction Server should refer to the publications for the appropriate release.
