About this book

This book describes IBM CallPath/CICS for OS/390 Version 2.1 (referred to as CallPath/CICS), an upgrade to IBM CallPath CICS/MVS Release 1.

This book contains installation, administration, and problem determination information about CallPath/CICS running with CallPath SwitchServer/2. It is intended to provide all the information needed to install CallPath/CICS and administer the system on a day-to-day basis.

This book is written for system administrators, system programmers, and system analysts. If it will be your job to install the CallPath/CICS system, you will need to understand:

The basic concepts and facilities of CallPath/CICS
The Multiple Virtual Storage (MVS) Time Sharing Option (TSO)
How to use the IBM System Modification Program/Extended (SMP/E) to install IBM licensed programs
How to install and configure CICS
How to define and allocate Virtual Storage Access Method (VSAM) data sets using access method services.

This book is in four parts:

Part 1, "Installation" describes how to install and configure the system.
Part 2, "Administration" describes how to use the administration panels to control, maintain, and monitor the system.
Part 3, "Problem Determination" describes how to detect problems and how to respond to them.
Part 4, "Appendixes" describe system messages, network definitions, and log record formats.
